Spirit Airlines does not regularly fly to that particular airport, and without the proper set up, the passengers could only get information from the screen that listed departures and arrivals. They had spent over an hour on the tarmac before the ten hours in the terminal. They had no food and no chance to ask questions or get answers.
One customer called it "terrible," "unreal," and "painful."
According to the website for Local 10 News, the company released a statement that said, "We understand that this has been an inconvenience for our customers, but the safety of our customers is always the top priority. All customers are being given full refunds for this inconvenience."
Spirit Airlines also said that time constraints with the crew prevented them from allowing the original flight to take off from Houston.
