“Dancing With the Stars” Season 22, which is dubbed as the most competitive season, hit its finale on ABC with Nyle DiMarco and Peta Murgatroyd as winners.
Fans were speculating about who among the remaining three couples will go home with the Mirror Ball Trophy and many websites guessed that DiMarco and Murgatroyd will emerge as champions. The theories were apparently correct as the deaf America's Next Top Model winner pulled off another emotional performance.
The pair danced a Cha Cha and Tango fusion and appeared very happy with the moving carefree dance. And they got a perfect 30 score.
During the winner's performance to "Sound of Silence," DWTS judge Carrie Ann Inaba was moved to tears calling the freestyle as the best she have seen in the 22 seasons of the series. She also used sign language to talk to DiMarco saying “Thank you for showing us your beautiful heart when you dance.” Meanwhile, fellow judge Bruno Tonioli said, "That was beyond dancing, that was a work of art."
Paige VanZant and partner Mark Ballas got the second place dancing to a Jive / Salsa fusion while Ginger Zee and pro Val Chmerkovskiy, who got the third place, danced an Argentine Tango/ Foxtrot fusion, Hollywood Life reported.
"I feel really honored, inspired, and touched, and the reason for that is because our dance is very personal," DiMarco told E! News as interviewed by Erin Lim backstage after the DWTS finale. "We had a message to send out there, and at the same time, it wasn't easy to make the message clear through our dance. So, that means that we were able to accomplish that and much more."
Meanwhile, DiMarco's partner said that she knew he will be the winner not just because he has exceeded her expectations but because "he has proved to everybody that anybody can do this show and anybody can dance."
