American Airlines is letting customers get an inside look into their business. In an online series, the airline is answering common questions asked by curious travelers who want to know what goes on behind the scenes in the airline industry.
Have you ever wondered what makes American Airlines choose to cancel or delay a flight? Maybe you want to know why airfares are constantly changing? Have you ever wanted to know what happened to a bag once it gets checked? American Airlines is answering all of these questions and more in their "Behind the Scenes @AmericanAir" digital series. The series gives customers an insider look at how the airline makes certain decisions.
"Transparency is extremely important to the American Airlines team. This is why we are inviting our customers to take a rare behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to run one of the world's largest airlines," said Andy Backover, American's Vice President - Communications in a press release. "Our new video series not only shines a spotlight on our operations, but it also allows us to better engage with our customers so we can provide answers that will help us improve their travel experience."
Anyone can see the series on American Airline's YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/americanairlines. The video series features airline employees who explain some of the inner workings of the airlines industry. They explain things that the public generally doesn't get to see among their plane travels.
The first video of the series features members of American Airline's Integrated Operations Control (IOC) team who show how the airline operates in cases of severe weather and what causes the airline to decide whether or not a delay or cancellation is necessary.
Some other videos show how American Airlines chooses the price of seats on certain flights. The latest video showcases the process in which a checked bag undergoes, showing customers how the airline tracks and transports luggage.
American Airlines is advertising their series on their social media pages like Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ and they're hoping that customers will treat the series as an interactive experience. They are seeking input from customers to see what questions they want answered in future Behind the Scenes videos.
"Our video series will only be successful if we are listening to our customers and having a true conversation with them," added Backover. "It is important that we answer their questions and provide a real look inside American Airlines."
