Pet travel is on the rise this summer. It is becoming so popular that Best Western, the largest group of independently owned and managed hotels in Great Britain and worldwide, has installed a Pet Hotline for travelers who want to book a stay with their pets.
Best Western has a positive reputation for being a pet-friendly hotel chain. Due to an overwhelming number of guests who are taking a staycation and looking to bring their pet along, Best Western hotels in Great Britain have been receiving more calls about pet stays than usual. To accommodate guests, they have opened a launched Britain's first Dog 'n' Bone hotline.
The move gives pet owners a specific central telephone number to call if they want to bring their furry friend along to one of Best Western's 112 pet-friendly hotels. The number connects them to a pet advisor who will guide them and provide them information about which hotel is best for their own needs and why their pet will enjoy it as well.
"Our award-winning pet friendly hotels have rooms specifically for guests with pets. Selected hotels in the group have even designated specific sections and buildings as 'canine corridors' to ensure that everyone can enjoy their dogs without imposing them on those who are less keen," said Best Western director of marketing, Tim Wade said in a press release.
Each hotel offers different things that make pets happy. Some of the things that Best Western's pet-friendly hotels offer are access to the hotel garden, special beds, windows with nice views, food bowls in the rooms and even a personalized letter from the chef advising on the day's specials for pets.
Even though the Dog 'n' Bone hotline targets dogs, K-9's aren't the only animal that can benefit from the number. When Best Western says they're pet-friendly, they mean almost all pets. The hotel group has received requests about stays for ferrets, tortoises, pig, parrots, and even a skunk.
Best Western's pet hotline goes along with a growing trend of hotel pet stays. Staycations are on the rise and pet owners are looking for a different solution for what to do with their pets while they're away, so many would rather bring their pets along than hand them over to an expensive kennel for the week.
The hotel group was also motivated by statistics from Google. Searches for pet friendly hotels in the UK have increased more than 50 percent in the past two years, showing that this isn't just a silly trend among a few pet-loving owners.
"An increasing number of people are staying at home and taking staycation holidays and looking for destinations where they can take their pets with them. This, on the back of a huge increase in enquiries for pet-and-owner rooms at our hotels, means we are providing a service which there is clearly a large call for," said Wade.
"The Pet Hotline is the obvious next step. We are able to easily match guests and their pets with a suitable hotel in the location where they wish to stay. It's the first of its kind in Britain." Wade continued.
If interested in speaking to Best Western's pet advisors, the Dog 'n' Bone Hotline number is 0845 373 1203.
