7 Signs You're Drinking Too Much Coffee

Love Coffee? Are you literally addicted to drink too much of coffee? Then you must been not aware of the 5 signs you carry along as you grow old. If your caffeine habit totals more than 500 milligrams (mg) a day, you may want to consider cutting back as it can lead to the following problems.

1. Muscle Twitches and Spasms

Caffeine, high volume intake can cause the muscles to cramp or move erratically. This may lead to intolerable pain.

2. Rambling Thought and Speech

The stimulant effect of caffeine will hinder your speech and thought speed up response. This can be very useful for concentration, too much can cause confusion and stuttering.

3. Heart Palpitations

Caffeine stimulates the central nervous system. It speeds up the heart rate and can cause the heart to flutter or palpitate.

4. Diuresis

Caffeine increases the blood flow through the kidneys and dilates the blood vessels, making the kidneys produce more waste leading to frequent urination.

5. Gastrointestinal Disturbance

Caffeine increases the contraction in the small and large intestinal muscles causing predigested food to move into the intestine, triggering stomach cramps.

6. Stomach and Hydrochloric acid

Drinking coffee on an empty stomach, such as first thing in the morning, stimulates hydrochloric acid production. This can be a problem because HCl should only be produced to digest meals, leading to protein indigestion.

7. Acrylamide in Coffee

Acrylamide is a potentially carcinogenic substance that forms when coffee beans are roasted at high temperatures. The darker the roast, the higher the levels of acrylamide are likely to be.
