Macy's Fireworks 2012: Best Location to Watch Dazzling Display

The 36th Annual Macy's 4th of July Fireworks will take place tonight at 9 pm. This year's fireworks display "Ignite the Night" will last 25 minutes to a synchronized mix of the hottest pop songs that were chosen by the American public through Macy's Facebook page. Over 40,000 fireworks will be lit off tonight, along with spectacular performances from pop star Katy Perry and Kenny Chesney.

Songs that will be featured to the fireworks display are:
"Silverado," "America the Beautiful," "Yankee Doodle," "God Bless the U.S.A.", "Armed Forces Medley," "America," "Sparks Fly," "One Moment in Time," "Stars and Stripes Forever," "The Star Spangled Banner," and "God Bless America."

Macy's has also launched an official app to provide information about the display. The app, which will be available on iTunes and Google Play, will feature transit and viewing information and details of the show. Users may also listen to synchronized musical score live with the app.

"Ignite the Night," which will be one of America's biggest fireworks displays tonight, can be viewed from any area above the Hudson River. Best views will be between 12th Avenue below 59th Street.

24th-26th Streets
27th-29th Streets
33rd-34th Streets
40th-50th Streets
52nd-54th Streets
56th-57th Streets

The fireworks cannot be viewed from the East River, Battery Park City, and All Hudson River Piers.

Subway services will be increased by the NYC Transit before and after the show.
