United airlines introduced non-stop services to Turkey. The daily nonstop service between Newark Liberty International Airport and Istanbul's Ataturk International Airport began from July 1.
"We are delighted to add Istanbul to our global route network," James Mueller, United's vice president, Atlantic & Pacific Sales told reporters. "Customers in the U.S. and Turkey will benefit from increased travel options with this new service."
Scheduled daily, the one-way flight departs from Newark Liberty at 7:27 p.m. and arrives in Istanbul at 12:20 p.m. the next day. The return flight will leave Istanbul at 1:55 p.m. and arrive in Newark at 6:02 p.m. the same day (all times local). The total flying time is nine hours, 53 minutes eastbound and 11 hours, seven minutes westbound.
A 180-seated, three-cabin Boeing 767-300 aircraft, including six in United Global First, 26 in United Business First and 151 in United Economy, include 67 Economy Plus seats will operate the service initially.
United has plans of introducing a newly-configured Boeing 767-300 with a bigger seating capacity, which is going to take charge of operating this service later this summer.
Customers travelling in Business First will be enjoying flat-bed seats, a 15.4" touch screen monitor delivering on-demand in-flight audio/video content, electrical and USB outlets, an iPod jack and a five-course meal with fine wines.
Economy plus customers will be getting more leg room, a 9" touch screen on-demand in-flight entertainment system, and all Economy rows have access to electrical outlets.
United's MileagePlus members can earn double award miles when flying this new service.
