Deadpool is one with Australians in celebrating Australia Day, praising Aussies for their 'unrelenting condescension towards New Zealand.' In character as Marvel's anti-hero Deadpool, Reynolds claims he "can't forgive" Australians for giving the world the widely panned film 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine.'
'I've got no problem with Hugh (Jackman), I mean he's a delightful guy, true legend. But the movie, that was a career low for me, you understand.' Reynolds appeared in the action flick 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine,' as Deadpool, alongside Australian actor Hugh Jackman. The Jackman-led Wolverine spin-off in 2009 was widely criticized for not staying true to the Deadpool comics.
Wearing Deadpool's red and black suit, with a cork hat, Reynolds mimics an Aussie accent as he wishes locals a Happy Australia Day -- 'because that's a real thing.'
Pulling out some cliche phrases, he continues: 'Throw another shrimp on the barbie. I know you say that one too.' It looks like as much as the superstar tries to convince his fans he can adapt to the Australian way of life, he is still struggling to say the very least.
Dramatically whipping off his hat and appearing rather alarmed by the corks hanging off it, he exclaims 'Oh sh*t , that's a hat. You guys wear this.' The actor added that he would fit right in Australia with its shady criminal past as well as its predilection for black-out drinking and unrelenting condescension towards New Zealand.
The Deadpool movie will premiere in Australia on Feb. 11.
