UberChopper Trial Run at Sundance Film Festival

Traffic has been one of the problems faced by many places around the globe. To address this problem, car-hailing services have been sprouting, including Grab, Uber, and so much more.

However, this does not necessarily solve the traffic problem. That is why Uber is now experimenting with helicopter rides in the United States, at least, and of course, for a much higher price. As of present, Uber is currently valued at €60bn, being the world's biggest car-hailing service.

To test Uber helicopters, which is to be called the UberChopper, they are making it available for this week's Utah's Sundance Film Festival. Along with this helicopter service is a car service that would further take passengers to and from helicopter points.

According to Independent, these helicopters are being provided by Airbus, the European aircraft manufacturer

'It's a pilot project, we'll see where it goes. But it's pretty exciting,' Airbus Chief Executive Tom Enders said.

An Uber spokesperson has confirmed their partnership with France-based Airbus.

The UberCopter, or UberChopper has already launched a trial service from New York to the Hamptons way back 2013.

It has since been offered on a trial basis in other cities around the world, including Bangalore, Cape Town, Melbourne, Rio de Janeiro, Manila, and Shanghai.

The cost for each ride could reach up to $400 per person. Take note however that when you book for a UberChopper ride, you must see to it that you and your friends should be at the same pick-up location and ready to go. Your car will only pick up at one location and will wait a maximum of 5 minutes.

Uber first had its ride hailing service in 2009. Since then, it has continued to expand worldwide due to high demand and the popularity has been growing ever since. The company has launched its services in more than 50 countries and across 300 cities around the globe.
