Gamer Festivals To Watch Out For In Europe

If you love video games, you might want a vacation that does not concern bodies of water or food. After countless hours or days staying locked up in your room in front of the PC or any favorite console, you might want to experience the real world once in a while. You don't need to steer far from the video games that you love for there are many events around Europe that cater to gamers.

DreamHack (held throughout Europe) is the largest computer and LAN party according to Guinness World Records. It is celebrated twice in the winter and summer seasons of each year -- with the winter event being more grandiose. Gamers are able to enjoy gaming tournaments and concerts during these festivities. It is held in various locations in Europe such as Sweden, London, Valencia, Romania, Spain and France. However, in 2016, the digital festival will be held in the United States of America specifically in Austin, Texas.

Gamescon (in Cologne, Germany) is a large convention for video games and prides itself as 'the biggest trade fair for interactive games and entertainment in Europe.' 'Bundesverband Interaktive Unterhaltungssoftware' that translates to 'Federal Association of Interactive Entertainment Software' or simply referred to as 'BIU' is responsible for organizing the said event. This is an opportunity for video game developers to showcase their games and other game-related products to gaming enthusiasts.

EGX London (in Earls Court, London) is a video game exhibit previously known as 'Eurogamer Expo' and is held in the United Kingdom every year. It is organized by the people behind Eurogamer.net and the event features esports tournaments, new game launchings and other game-related activities. It started last 2008 and has been celebrated every year since then. The venue for this year's expo is at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham.
