David Bowie's Death A Work Of Art

David Bowie, one of the most iconic musicians of all time, died peacefully on Jan. 10.

Great Britain is home to the most influential personalities that changed the music industry forever, and David Bowie was one of them. He was reported to have died of cancer after 18 months of fighting against it. Lemmy was another British musician of great caliber who suffered the same fate last Dec. 28.

David Bowie's real name was David Robert Jones, and he was born on Jan. 8, 1947. He had various careers such as being a singer, songwriter, painter and actor but he was most notable for innovating music during the 1970s.

Just days before his death, the 69-year-old musician released the music video of the song 'Lazarus' that was obviously his parting song for his fans. The sorrowful video was uploaded last Jan. 7 and has now almost 13 million views. The song is one of the seven tracks included in his latest album 'Blackstar,' which heavily suggests the truth about his dying condition. Even in his last moments, he expressed himself in the most creative way.

Tony Visconti, the producer for Bowie's last work Blackstar, confirmed that it was the artist's farewell message to his fans. Bowie was already aware that his condition was incurable a year before, which gave him time to prepare his final 'work of art.'

The 'Blackstar' is the influential musician's 25th album to date, and it features a single black star instead of his face as is usually present on the covers if his other albums. It currently crawled its way into the top charts and has the potential of becoming the 10th top albums from the artist.

'He always did what he wanted to do. And he wanted to do it his way and he wanted to do it the best way. His death was no different from his life - a work of Art,' Visconti said.
