From the International Space Station, NASA astronaut Scott Kelly took a photo and posted it on social media on April 6 with the caption, "Australia. You are very beautiful. Thank you for being there to brighten our day. #YearInSpace"
Kelly is with Mikhail Kornienko from the Russian Federal Space Agency. They began their one-year mission aboard the space station last March 27.
While expeditions to space only last up to four to six months, Kelly's and Kornienko's is double the length of a usual expedition. According to NASA, "By doubling the length of this mission, researchers hope to better understand how the human body reacts and adapts to long-duration spaceflight."
