Most people travel to Japan, or any other country for that matter, to visit popular attractions such as Mount Fuji, the various shrines and theme parks. But did you know that there are many more interesting that Japan can offer? Here are some of Japan's interesting destinations that tourists should try to visit.

Narai-Juku

This is a small peaceful town located in the Nagano Prefecture where tourists can experience traditional Japan. Visiting this place is like travelling through time and landing many centuries ago. The town was used as a trade route between Tokyo and Kyoto. The houses in the town are mostly made out of wood that has remarkably survived over the years.

Takao Beer Mount

What better way to enjoy beer than to drink it while admiring Tokyo city from the top? This beer and all-you-can-eat buffet is located on top of Mount Takao in Meiji no Mori Takao Quasi-National Park. For visitors who would want to go there, they will be transported to the top of the mountain with the use of a train which results to yet another rare experience.

Yakushima

If nature is more of your thing, then the Yakushima rain forest is the place to go. It is located in the tip of the Kyushu Island which can be found in south eastern Japan. The rain forest is home to 1,900 species of plants and flowers, and 170 species of animals. This forest brings you closer to fantasy since it resembles the imaginary places that can only be seen in movies.

Rice Terraces

Despite the fact that rice terraces are more identified with other neighbouring south east Asian countries, Japan also boasts some of these ingenious breath taking paddies. Tourists may either walk or ride a bike to the fields in fully immerse themselves with the scenery.

Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel

This underground water infrastructure was designed to divert flood water during the rainy seasons. It is located in Saitama which can be found somewhere north of Tokyo. Despite the fact that tours are conducted for free, the tour guides use Japanese language so it's best to learn Japanese beforehand or bring a native speaker.
