Blue Ivy, Beyonce and Jay-Z's 5-month-old daughter, is already proving to be one of Hollywood's most worldly babies. Before she's able to walk and talk, baby Blue has been given honorary citizenship in Hvar, Croatia.
The power couple took a vacation to the town of Hvar when Beyonce just had a small baby bump. They found a blue tree, and Jay-Z filmed his wife in front of it. "I think it's Blue Ivy, which would be quite appropriate," she says on the tape.
After the singer posted the video to her Tumblr account, it gave a big tourism boost to the town and brought a lot of media attention. Now, the mayor of Hvar wants to thank the whole Carter family for helping to raise the town's profile.
The Huffington Post is reporting that Mayor Pjerino Bebic wrote Hova and B a letter expressing his appreciation and offering a unique honor. The letter reads, in part, "The story of the origin of your girl's name, Blue Ivy, has brought huge media attention and great tourism promotion to the town of Hvar. I have decided to grant your daughter the status of honorary citizen of the town."
Bebic also invited the family for another visit to Hvar, which is the sunniest town in Croatia. The offer might stem from business sense as much as it does from kindness, since the mayor claims that tourism has dramatically increased since their visit.
Blue Ivy might be the youngest in Hollywood to receive such an honor, but she's not the only one. In May, Angelina Jolie accepted honorary citizenship from Sarajevo at the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton Parliament. Though she wasn't at the ceremony to accept the honor in person, the actress and U.N. Representative sent a pre-recorded message expressing her thanks. The award is only bestowed upon one person each year, and she was chosen, Us Weekly's website reports because she is someone who "'puts the focus of current problems in the world' in the spotlight -- 'namely hunger, poverty, inequality and injustice, and atrocities due to consequences of war.'"
In her recorded message, Jolie said, "I am deeply grateful to the citizens of Sarajevo and the Sarajevo Canton assembly for bestowing upon me this incredible honor of citizenship. I am so proud to now be a part of such an extraordinary part of the world and fellow citizen to the people I deeply love and admire."
