WestJet Unveils Frozen-themed Aircraft

Canadian-based airline WestJet has launched their second custom aircraft as part of their partnership with Walt Disney Parks & Resorts. This time, the aircraft features Disney's Frozen characters Anna, Elsa, and Olaf. The first one is a Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 series which features Mickey Mouse as the Sorcerer's Apprentice.

Information published on the WestJet website revealed that it took over 170 gallons or 645 litres of paint, 23 colours, and a team of painters from Canada, the U.S.A. and Germany to be able to achieve the with the cold-to-warm scene on the Disney Frozen-themed plane. "Sparkles were added to sections of the paint to show movement as the aircraft flies through the sky," a statement on their website reads.

Furthermore, the plane's interior is also inspired by the Disney movie. It has a blend of colours that mimic the different seasons. The colours transition from warm to cold, mirroring the exterior of the aircraft. Starting from the bulkhead, guests would notice that the theme is summer-season-inspired. As they go through the mid-cabin, they will see a change in season; it now starts to show winter. On the way to the end of the aircraft, one will see full freeze and snowflakes. "The rear bulkheads of the aircraft display a winter scene much like those a guest would see straight from the movie Frozen," WestJet reports.

Elsa and Anna are seen on the tail of the plane while Olaf is painted on the fuselage. The painters spent 21 days, 24/7, in a hangar in Fort Worth, Texas, to finish the project.

The planning took a year.

WestJet is the latest airline that made a partnership with Disney. According to MSN, ANA, Japan's flagship carrier, also launched their first Star Wars-themed jets. It features r2-D2. There are two more in the making. The second one will feature BB-8, a new character from the upcoming "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" film while the third will feature both BB-8 and R2-D2.
