We have compiled several photos taken from different parts of the world during the blood moon. Check out the gallery. At the same time, learn about the blood moon and the prophecy behind it.
A blood moon is a term first coined by astronomers and refers to a combination of two events: a super moon and a full lunar eclipse. Furthermore, a super moon refers to when the orbit of the moon is closest to the Earth.
According to the Guardian, "'"Blood moon" is not a scientific term. It began to be used in connection with Biblical prophesies, but has come to be used to describe the reddish hue seen on a super moon during a lunar eclipse. To astronomers, the event was a "super moon, harvest moon, tetrad, lunar eclipse"'.
During the last blood moon, which happened last Sunday and Monday, depending on where you are exactly in the world, the moon gave out a coppery, reddish color. This is because of the sunlight passing through the Earth's atmosphere. It is filtered and refracted in a way that the "green to violet light on the spectrum was scattered more strongly than the red light."
On the other hand, the blood moon, according to the Christian community refers to a prophecy. Based on Nir Hasson's article in Haaretz, 'the prophecy, attributed to Pastor Mark Biltz, says the full lunar eclipse that took place on Monday is the final sign from God portending a series of dramatic events that will bring about the Christian version of the End of Days. The prophecy is based on a verse from the prophet Joel: "The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the Lord come."'
Furthermore, according to the same prophecy, the fourth eclipse (which happened recently) will be followed by a series of events, including earthquakes and meteor showers. These co-called events will end when the war of Gog and Magog begins. On the other hand, "that war will end with a decisive battle in Megiddo (Armageddon) and Jerusalem, and the survivors will witness the End of Days and the second coming of Jesus."
