Wisconsin Shooting - Four people were killed and one person was critically injured after the Menasha, Wisconsin shooting spree that occurred on the Fox Cities Trestle Trail bridge Sunday night, according to police.
Menasha Police Department's Community Liaison Officer Aaron Zemlock said the Menasha, Wisconsin shooting happened about 7:30 p.m. on the west end of the bridge, spanning Little Lake Butte des Morts and connecting to the Town of Menasha, reported Post-Crescent Media.
The shooter from the Menasha, Wisconsin shooting and murder-suicide was identified as Sergio Daniel Valencia del Toro, 27. He was an Air Force veteran who shot and killed three people, then himself after an apparent argument with his ex-fiancee, according to NBC News.
Chief Tim Styka said late Sunday night that del Toro was pronounced dead at a local hospital after the Menasha, Wisconsin shooting incident.
Investigators believe he randomly started firing two handguns and the Menasha, Wisconsin shooting occurred while his victims, the Stoffel family, was on a bike ride that spring evening. The Wisconsin couple along with their three children had reportedly ridden the bridge before.
They were halfway across the Little Lake Butte des Morts when del Toro, upset over a fight with his ex-girlfriend, opened fire, according to the Associated Press.
"At this point we do not believe there is any other threat to the community," according to Styka. "We think this was a random act. It does not appear that anyone was targeted."
The victim who remained alive underwent surgery at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah, according to police. The person had been in critical condition after the surgery following the Menasha, Wisconsin shooting
Apparently, the girlfriend had already left del Toro when he started the Menasha, Wisconsin shooting.
Those killed were identified as Jonathan Stoffel, 33; his 11-year-old daughter, Olivia; and Adam Bentdahl, 31. Styka said del Toro, who was a student, shot all of the victims at close range and he had been "unprovoked."
Jonathan Stoffel's wife, Erin, 32, was able to get their two children off the bridge safely. She was shot three times and was hospitalized.
