It's been a rough week for air travel. First, JetBlue made an emergency landing in Last Vegas on Sunday, after a mechanical failure left passengers nervous and nauseus. A few days later, on Wednesday, a Delta flight from Detroit, Michigan to Phoenix, Arizona had to make an emergency landing in Colorado Springs, Colorado after a woman on board became unresponsive. She was later pronounced dead, according to the Huffington Post.
Chris Kelly Singley, a spokeswoman for Delta, says the captain of Flight 1921 diverted the plane to Colorado after a passenger became unresponsive. In addition to the captain's actions of redirecting the plane, flight attendants and a doctor on board performed CPR on the woman. When the plane landed at approximately 10 a.m., officials determined that the passenger was dead.
It is not known whether the passenger died on the plane.
No details have been released about what led the woman to become unresponsive, nor was the Delta spokeswoman allowed to reveal the woman's name or age.
After the stop in Colorado Springs, the flight continued on to Phoenix with 151 passengers.
