'Fifty Shades of Grey' fans are absolutely dying in anticipation of the franchise's sequel 'Fifty Shades Darker.' However, it appears that production for the second film is facing major problem, thus, the people behind it couldn't start filming right away.
Apart from the sad news that director Sam Taylor-Johnson has departed the franchise because of her rift with book author E.L. James, rumor has it that there is big problem on the horizon after James expressed her decision to take a bigger part in writing the script for 'Fifty Shades Darker.'
Nevertheless, nothing is written on stone between Universal and James as of late, so it is yet to be known whether James will be writing the screenplay for the flick, reports Enstarz.
"The studio had always intended to sit down with the author after the film opened and discuss next steps, and that has not yet happened," a Universal spokesperson said.
Sources claim that because of James' lack of experience when it comes to writing screenplays, producers are hesitant in signing an agreement with the author. Hence, this will surely affect the release date of the movie.
Meanwhile, it can be noted that the conflicting views and confrontations between James and Taylor-Johnson led the latter to quit exit the franchise earlier than expected. Interestingly, Trigger Street Productions' Dana Brunetti insists that the director decided to quit because of the exaggerated news from the media.
"This got blown out of proportion because anything with "Fifty Shades" in the headline got attention," Brunetti told The Hollywood Reporter. "There are disagreements every day, every setup, every shot. The press just ran with this and blew it into a much bigger issue than it ever was."
Although things have not been clarified as of this time, Taylor-Johnson has already expressed her gratitude in making her the director of 'Fifty Shades of Grey' saying the experience "has been an intense and incredible journey for which I am hugely grateful... I forged close and lasting relationships with the cast, producers and crew and most especially with Dakota (Johnson) and Jamie Dornan."
