New App Helps Travelers Learn Spanish

Going to a foreign country can be exciting, but it can also be intimidating when the country speaks a different language. However, for those who might not be fluent in a certain language, technology is there to make your foreign travels a bit easier. Noyo, a Boston-based educational software startup, has created a Kindle Fire app that helps families traveling abroad to Spanish-speaking countries.

The Noyo Spanish Travel app for the Kindle Fire tablet is part of Noyo's growing Spanish line-up. Noyo Spanish Travel, available on the Amazon Appstore for the Kindle Fire and other Android devices, helps kids and adults learn and practice essential Spanish vocabulary before jetsetting to a Spanish-speaking travel destination like Mexico or Madrid. In addition to helping families before leaving for their trip, the app also serves as a helpful Spanish dictionary to be used as a guide while abroad.

The app is accurate as it is carefully edited. As part of the small Kindle Fire, it makes Spanish knowledge portable, which is convenient when trying to pack a suitcase or carry-on. If someone has ever taken a Spanish class, the app is great for refreshing the memories of those who are going to need the language on their trip.

The Noyo Spanish Travel app is characteristic of other Noyo products. It has colorful graphics, interactive elements and built-in test questions. It also contains travel-related sections and over 700 useful vacation vocabulary words. There is also an audio portion that helps users understand certain pronunciations of words.

"We carefully sorted through our Spanish content and re-edited it to create an app that will help users get the most out of their vacations to Spanish-speaking countries," says Micaya Clymer, Product Manager at Noyo in a press release. "We hope that our app will help kids--and their parents!--have fun while preparing for their trip."

The app provides vocabulary and phrases for some useful travel situations like ordering food, asking about directions and transportation, finding fun things to do and seeing the city's main attractions. It makes learning the language fun and educational so that interacting with the locals may be a bit easier.

"The experience traveling abroad is always enhanced when you can communicate with the locals. Practicing 15 minutes a day with Noyo Spanish Travel before your trip will help you to build a foundation of vocabulary for every travel situation," says Mike Sullivan, Chief Learning Officer at Noyo in a press release.

The app can be downloaded to the Kindle Fire at a low price of $3.99.
