Celebrate Romance: Bora Bora's Picnic In the Water

Bora Bora is one of the most beautiful places in the world. With its crystal blue waters, flowing green palm trees, and over water bungalows, not too many places can match this French Polynesian island's beauty. It is a perfect destination to celebrate romance as couples enjoy the privacy and serenity of all that the island has to offer.

Bora Bora is a perfect location for honeymoons or celebrating an anniversary. The locals and tourism companies know how to create an even more unique and romantic experience for those who travel to this paradise. One of the many unique romantic options is to have a picnic while actually in the warm shallow waters of a lagoon.

A few operators offer this special experience in which a table and seats are set up within the waters of the island and people can enjoy a romantic meal.

As part of a special couple's package, lovers are picked up at their resort and taken around the island by boat. Couples can engage in activities like watching the sting rays of the lagoon, snorkeling among coral gardens and visit a place where giant manta rays and sharks feed. After the excitement of the morning, couples are taken by boat to a private Motu, or small island, where they can enjoy each other's company and an in-water meal for lunch.

A table and chairs are set up right in the waters of the lagoon next the white sandy beach of the motu. The table is also set up with an umbrella to keep guests cool during their romantic meal.

Couples are provided a meal with several courses, some of which are considered Polynesian decliacies. Dishes can include salad, fish appetizers, poison cru (raw fish), lobster, barbecues fish, chicken, steak, baked potatoes, and fresh sweet local island fruits for desert. To make it extra special, couples are provided with a bottle of champagne, but can also opt for beer, soft drinks, juices, or water to go with their meal.

With a full and satisfied belly, couples can then wander around the private motu and do some beachcombing, walk along the barrier reef or even take a light swim, while enjoying each other's company in this romantic atmosphere. No need to worry about cleaning up the picnic. A guide will take care of that for you as you enjoy your private time with your loved one.

This package is a bit on the expensive side around $500 per person, but for several hours of adventure, romance, and feasting, it doesn't seem like a bad deal.

Take note that while this package seems catered to couples, it is not limited to couples. Friends and family can also enjoy this lagoon tour and water picnic.
