Americans Plan Summer Vacations Despite Economic Slowdown

Fluctuating economy, increasing oil prices and uncertain job scenarios will not stop Americans from packing their bags and moving out of their homes to take a summer vacation.

According to a survey done in June by Morpace Omnibus, around 60 percent of the Americans will go on summer vacations this year. Headquartered in Detroit with offices in Los Angeles, London and Shanghai, Morpace Omnibus, is an ISO 9001:2008 certified organization which provides survey marketing research and consulting organization for different sectors like automotive, financial services, health care, Travel and Technology Industries.

Morpace Omnibus did an online survey of 1,000 consumers on a national scale which revealed that more than 60 percent of Americans will go on summer vacations this year, with around 25 percent not planning and 15 percent have not decided yet.

More than 61 percent of the Americans who are going on vacations have decided to go in some other parts of United States. Many of them have decided not to travel beyond 100-150 miles from their homes and almost 17 percent have planned to travel internationally.

According to the survey, a large number of travellers are going to use their savings and credit cards. Many of them are going to spend their tax return money and a few of them will apply for vacation loan.

Large numberof adults aged 55 and over plan to pay for their vacations using credit cards as the card holders earns mileage and points for each dollar spent.

Most of the Americans will spend their vacation for "about a week" this summer. However a huge percentage will prefer hotels, motels and inns for their vacations.

The survey also says that popular vacation months are June through August, with July being the preferred among most of the Americans.

Earlier in May a survey by the ORBITZ worldwide reveal a few more things that can benefit the traveler to make their choices. According to the survey Las Vegas tops the list as the most popular destination for summer 2012.

The survey also shows that New York has jumped to number two spot this year which is remarkably noticing in comparison to the last year, whereas Cancun is the only international destination listing in the top 10 this summer.

Senior Editor of Orbitz.com Jeanenne Tornatore said, "Travelers that can be flexible on travel dates should consider a June getaway when daily hotel rates are six percent less expensive, on average, as hotel in many of the most popular destination this summer are cheaper in June vs. July, including those in eight of the ORBITZ top 10 summer destinations,"
