The 72-year-old actor was reportedly rushed to UCLA Medical Center with critical injuries following the crash of his vintage World War II plane on a southern California golf course. The crash occurred because of the loss of engine power.
According to KTLA, the plane crash resulted in Ford having a large laceration in his scalp and broken bones in his pelvis and ankle. These injuries required him to have surgery.
"There was a lot of blood on his face and his body, and none of us had gloves to take care of this person. We were just doing our best to make sure he was all right," said Dr. Sanjay Khurana, a doctor who on the scene of the Harrison Ford plane crash.
Ford's wife, Calista Flockhart, 50, is his biggest supporter. Before Harrison Ford was released from the hospital, she has been by his bedside while recovering at UCLA, according to People.
"She [would] drop Liam off in the morning and then spend hours with Harrison," a source told PEOPLE. "She [brought] him food and reading material."
Despite Harrison Ford's release from the hospital and his rest in the comforts of his own home, he is still going through therapy for his broken pelvis.
"The therapy is primarily stabilization exercises and also gait training, like actually getting the patient up and moving again - pretty much just leaving how to walk while minimizing the main," according to Dr. Beny Charchian, Founder of the Joint and Spine Institute in Beverly Hills, who has not treated Ford.
News of Harrison Ford released from the hospital can now provide the public a reason to heave a sigh of relief as Ford had many supporters throughout his recovery. "It's just amazing how many people love him and have been sending their support," a source as told to the New York Daily News.
