Pentagon Yemen Aid: $500 Million In Weapons Unaccounted For, ‘Completely Compromised And Gone’

Pentagon Yemen Aid - It seems that Philippines is not the only country with millions completely unaccounted for. The latest reports now state that the United States of America has completely lost track of ammunition and weapons worth $500 million. The said weapons have been donated to the Yemeni government.

The Pentagon Yemen aid was revealed by an American defence official who refused to reveal his identity. According to reports by the Washington Post, due to the situation in Yemen over the last few years, US officials had given weapons and ammunition as a form of help. Such ammunition and weaponry accumulated to a whopping $500 million. Now, it seems the Pentagon Yemen aid of weaponry has been unaccounted for.

"We have to assume it's completely compromised and gone," states the anonymous US legislative aide, adding, "Even in the best-case scenario in an unstable country, we never have 100 percent accountability."

Such reports on the Pentagon Yemen aid are certain to be a setback against President Barack Obama's attempts in combatting acts of terrorism in Yemen. The weaponry unaccounted for include night-vision goggles, ammunition, small arms, patrol vehicles and boats. Given these weaponry and ammunition have been unaccounted for, terrorist acts in Yemen are sure to increase in number.

Despite the Pentagon Yemen aid being unaccounted for, this has not stopped Pentagon officials from sending out military hardware as donations to countries in Africa and the Middle East. The said military hardware amounts to $125 million. Shipments of military weaponry have been halted for now in Yemen.

The Pentagon Yemen aid delivered in specifics include 1,250,000 rounds of ammunition, 300 sets of night-vision goggles, 200 Glock 9mm pistols, 200 M-4 rifles, four Huey II helicopters, 250 suits of body armor, two Cessna 208 transport and surveillance aircraft, 160 Humvees, four hand-launched Raven drones, one CN-235 transport and surveillance aircraft, and two coastal patrol boats.
