Slender Man Stabbing - Two Wisconsin girls, both aged 12, are set to stand trial as adults in their upcoming hearing. The girls have been accused of repeatedly stabbing a classmate of their in hopes of pleasing the fictional monster, Slender Man. Will the girls be guilty of first degree intentional homicide as adults or second degree murder in a juvenile court?
Wisconsin law follows the ruling that suspects at least 10 years of age would stand trial and be charged as adults in cases of severe crime. This in case, two 12-year old girls, identified as Anissa Weier and Morgan Geyser, accused of stabbing their classmate in the hopes of pleasing Slender Man are set to head to court and stand trial as adults.
According to reports, the girls had planned the incident for months. They had convinced, Leutner their classmate, to sleep over at their house. In the morning, they both lured her into the forest where they had stabbed her 19 times. The victim luckily survived the horrendous ordeal. A bicyclist who happened to pass by the forest in Waukesha had found her.
Now, months after the incident of the Slender Man stabbing, the 12-year old girls are set to stand trial. Defence lawyers argue that the girls believed Slender Man would harm their families, if the deed was not pushed through. Due to this, lawyers of the accused believe they should be charged with second-degree murder in a juvenile court rather than of first-degree intentional homicide in an adult court.
The girls involved in the Slender Man stabbing, if tried in an adult court could be sentenced to up to 60 years imprisonment. On the other hand, if tried in a juvenile court, the girls would only be imprisoned until the age of 25.
Prior to the Slender Man stabbing, one of the accused, Geyser had a habit of mutilating her Barbie dolls and placing cult symbols on them. Officers who had testified against the two girls claim they did not show remorse during their interview.
