Georgia Officer Shot And Killed - An officer of the Fulton County police force has been reported dead. The said officer was ambushed Wednesday morning when he along with a fellow officer responded to a shots-fired call. Reports claim the veteran officer was shot in the head by an intoxicated man.
Police chief Gary Stiles claim the officers attended to a call about a shooting at the Cedar Grove subdivision. The said area was close to Fairburn, with the shooting having occurred at around 1:30 in the morning. The Georgia officer shot and killed by the suspect responsible for the shooting.
The suspect, allegedly intoxicated, was armed with a long barrel gun. He is yet to be identified. Reports add that the man was going from house to house, banging on doors, and firing his gun. When the authorities arrived, he had started shooting them. Thus, causing one of the Georgia officers shot and killed.
Stiles claimed that the incident was an "ambush." Officers who responded to the scene "tried to do their job." Despite trying to protect the neighborhood, Stiles claims he and his fellow officer were "ambushed without warning." While the name of the Georgia officer shot and killed is yet to be released to the press, Stiles says he is a veteran officer who had served for many years.
"This is not the first officer that we have lost. It's heartbreaking," says Stiles in a report by USA Today.
As for the man responsible for the Georgia officer shot and killed, the man had been shot by authorities as well. He is currently in treatment and under close watch at the Grady Memorial Hospital. The state of his condition is unknown.
Apart from the Georgia officer shot and killed, no other casualties and injured individuals were reported. Stiles believes that there were no other suspects in the shooting. Investigation continues.
