"Fifty Shades of Grey" has already landed the big screens this Friday, in time for Valentine's Day this Saturday. And while the first movie adaptation of the erotic book series is yet to get its expected blockbuster response, word about its sequel "Fifty Shades Darker" has surfaced on social media this week.
Twitter user @fiftyshades_UK leaked last Sunday that filming for "Fifty Shades Darker" will begin in June and that the film will be shown in theaters in 2016.
Surprisingly, the sequel to the "Fifty Shades of Grey" will not be released on Valentine's Day next year. Instead, it will hit the big screen a month after the month of love.
"Official info from UNIVERSAL: Fifty Shades Darker will be released March 2016 + filming will start in June. Thanks to @fiftyshadesbabyyeah," the post read.
While many fans quickly took the post seriously and rejoiced over the idea that the movie sequel to EL James' hit BDSM-themed series will be released next year, Universal Pictures has not confirmed or denied the post. Universal has also remained mum on the actual release date of the sequel.
Meanwhile, "Fifty Shades" director Sam Taylor-Johnson has already confirmed to The Independent last week that the trilogy will continue on the big screen.
Apart from her confirmation however, Taylor-Johnson didn't divulge specific details on the upcoming movie adaptations of 'Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed."
She also didn't spill clues on the actual release dates and filming schedules for the sequels of "Fifty Shades of Grey," which is getting a lot of attention lately because it was given an "R" rating because of its strong sexual theme, MTV News reports.
