As the fans of "Fifty Shades of Grey" already know, the story's protagonist, Christian Grey, does not do hearts and flowers. With the movie premiering on Valentine's weekend, a lot of those who have already read the bestselling novels, as well as curious newbies, will expect the movie to live up to the "phenomenon" hype.
1. Will Jamie Dornan a.k.a. Christian Grey go full frontal in "Fifty Shades of Grey"?
The 32-year-old Irish actor already confirmed to The Guardian that he will not be giving the audience a glimpse of his "todger." "You want to appeal to as wide an audience as possible without grossing them out," Dornan defended his decision not to go full frontal to ET Online. "You don't want to make something gratuitous, ugly, and graphic. There were contracts in place that said that viewers wouldn't be seeing my todger."
2. Why was it given an R rating?
It was confirmed by Cinema Blend that the "Fifty Shades of Grey" will be having an R rating. Since the plot is centered on Christian Grey's S&M preference, it is bound to features some very steamy scenes. The R rating was given for "strong sexual content including dialogue, some unusual behavior and graphic nudity, and for language."
Dana Brunetti, the movie's Producer, admitted that the team had actually aimed for an R rating, but was also interested in releasing an NC-17 version after the R-rated one airs in theaters.
3. Is it a date movie or a chick flick?
According to USA Today, the movie has the potential to be both. "It's an event movie," says box office analyst Paul Dergarabedian. "The conventional wisdom is that it's more of a guilty pleasure/girls' night out movie." He expects the women to drag their boyfriends to watch it, "and the men will drag them back to 'Kingsman: The Secret Service." "I call this the 'His-and-Hers Weekend,'" he says.
"Fifty Shades of Grey" will be premiering in theaters on Feb. 13, 2015.
