Angry Birds Theme Parks Opening Around the World

If you have any device that is app accessible, you may have downloaded the Angry Birds app to pass the time and keep yourself entertained as you fling various birds at those annoying green pigs in different challenges. The app, developed in Finland, is blowing up across the world and has already been downloaded over 700 million times since it's launch. The Angry Bird characters can now be seen in toy stores, on t-shirts, on candy, and much more. However, now fans of the app will have opportunity to visit real world Angry Bird theme parks.

This week, the UK announced the creation of an Angry Birds-themed playground in Nottingham. The park, which is expected to open by the end of the summer, will be part of the Sundown Adventureland theme park, which caters to young children.

The park, which will cost £250,000, will feature on themed swings, roundabouts, sandpits, climbing towers, giant dummy catapults, an outdoor arcade game and rides themed around the game. This park will encourage kids to get out of the house and away from their apps and enjoy their favorite game in a real life setting while running around.

This is not the first Angry Birds theme park. Earlier this month, the first Angry Birds Land opened in the Särkänniemi theme park in Tampere, Finland. Finland is where the app creators, Rovio, are located. The park was created by the Finnish Lappset Group, which will also be in charge of creating the UK park.

The colorful Finnish park features 12 rides made for families and young children. Some rides include an Angry Birds carousel, the Majakka lighthouse, an adventure course and a rollercoaster, along with several themed food outlets and an official Angry Birds shop. A soundtrack with character noises and music from the games is played around the area. There will also be an area where guests can download exclusive sections of the game by June 8, the parks official opening. The park first opened to the public on April 28.

There are hopes to open several more parks, with plans of creating a Disneyland type franchise.

An unlicensed Angry Birds theme park was launched in China in September last year.
