Stomach Virus Hits 100 People In Scottish Hotel

More than 100 guests and staff have been hit with a stomach bug at the luxurious Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland.

Gleneagles Hotel is a five-star luxury resort in Auchterarder in the beautiful countryside of Perthshire, Scotland. Just an hour drive from the main cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow, it has several golf courses, spas, the only Michelin two-star restaurant in Scotland, a shooting school, an equestrian school, fishing spots, and much more to keep guests entertained.

However, guests are not enjoying a virus that is leaving them with symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea. The hotel learned of the many cases when guests who stayed there the previous weekend called the hotel and reported being sick. The Scotsman reported. A hotel spokeswoman said Gleneagles only learned of many of the cases when guests who had stayed there last weekend called to report being sick.

Dozens of people associated with the hotel have reported suffering from nurovirus symptoms,Health officials are investigating the suspected outbreak. The National Health Service (NHS) said no one was sick enough to be hospitalized.

The NHS said "Staff at the hotel are working closely with NHS Tayside and Perth and Kinross Council to implement all the recommended infection control measures."

They advised that anyone suffering from the symptoms should retain proper hygiene as to not spread the virus and to remain at home at least 48 hours after the symptoms have cleared.

As reported by Fife Today, a spokeswoman for Gleneagles said: "We can confirm there have been a number of reported cases of norovirus last weekend. All the relevant authorities were notified and we have been working in conjunction with them to assess the situation on an ongoing basis during the week.

"The care of our guests and staff is of paramount importance and we have been taking the necessary precautions. We are glad to say that as far as we are aware, only a handful of people have not yet returned to full health."
