California No Rain January: Drought Intensifies For The Month, No Rain Recorded For First Time In 165 Years

California No Rain January - The drought that has affected California is certainly at its worst. For the month of Jan, no rain was recorded. This is the first time in approximately 165 years that such an incident has occurred.

Despite Jan being the peak of the wet season for California, no rain January had occurred. Back in Dec, continuous rains had perched the dried up state only to have the New Year bring on the worst drought of its kind. According to Business Insider, the northern part of California is recorded to be on its driest season on record.

San Francisco, California no rain January has seen around 0 inches of measurable precipitation. This is according to the National Weather Service. The average states that San Francisco receives around 4.5 inches of precipitation every month of Jan. Yet, it is quite alarming that it received no rain this month around for the year 2015.

Sacramento, California no rain January on the other hand received only 0.01 inches of rain. The average for Sacramento is 3.73 inches of rain. As for Jan 27, California has experience an extreme case of drought. Much of the western part of the United States is still suffering from degrees of drought.

"Something is happening in the atmosphere that is causing the high pressure to lock in position in the middle of winter," says Duane Dykema in a report by Wall Street Journal. Dykema is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Monterey.

Given California no rain January, this is the first time in almost 165 years that the state has received no rain. As for southern parts of the state, a few rain showers were experienced but not enough to solve the extreme case of drought. As for Mayor of Carmel by the Sea, Jason Burnett hopes his rain dance hopes to attract rain and solve the case of drought.
