Auschwitz Holocaust: Remembering A Dreadful Day In History

Auschwitz Holocaust survivors are urging everyone not to allow Holocaust crimes to reoccur as they complete seven decades after the camp's liberation. To commemorate Auschwitz Holocaust, a memorial gathering happened in the death camp site located in Poland. More than a million people, composed of mostly Jews, were abducted between 1940 and 1945, during the time when Soviet groups liberated the place.

This Auschwitz Holocaust commemorative event may be the last major anniversary event the survivors can attend. We can expect that many attendees will be present. Survivors of the Auschwitz Holocaust continued experiencing living a miserable life as they went through one of the past century's worst acts of hatred and inhumanity.

After the Holocaust, many Jews in Europe were gathered in a big, white temporary building erected over brick railway constructions. These buildings are used to enslave Jews and other prisoners. Remembering this dark era of Auschwitz Holocaust, the Death Wall where prisoners were executed was filled with candles. Speeches from significant individuals were heard, followed by Jewish and Christian prayers. Poland's President Bronislaw Komorowski commented that this ceremony somehow made his country a "cemetery for Jews."

An English named Renee Salt, 85, visited the site for the first time a decade ago. Since then, she annually makes sure to visit the camp. "I'll do it for as long as I can. Why? There are still a lot of Holocaust-deniers the world over and if we don't speak out, the world won't know what happened," she explained.

Some inmates who are survivors described how the Nazi members separate family members from each other. Some are made to do difficult labor, while some go straight to the gas chambers, where they are killed.

Anniversary ceremonies of the Auschwitz Holocaust took place in many parts of Europe and in an Israeli museum called Yad Vashem.
