Patrick Dempsey's wife Jillian Fink has filed for divorce while her husband was still racing at the 24 Hours of Daytona in Florida. Does this mean that the "Grey's Anatomy" actor's race-car driving career is the main reason they are splitting.
According to USA Today, Dempsey, 49, and Fink are officially ending their marriage despite being together for 15 years and siring three wonderful children: Talulah Fyfe, 12, and twins Patrick and Darby Galen, 7.
While they have not cited the primary reason why they are divorcing in their exclusive statement to the media, insiders believe that Dempsey's strong liking towards race-car driving was the root of their falling out as husband and wife.
Car racing is quite time-consuming and even it requires much too much money. Plus, the fact that Patrick is still working for 'Grey's Anatomy' for more than a decade now, makes many sources think that his busy schedule led to a strain in his romantic life with his makeup artist wife.
Of course, Fink was notably supportive of her husband's hobby at first. Back in 2007, Dempsey was even quoted saying about his wife: "She was the one to encourage me to go and drive."
But now things are looking different for the couple since they are already headed for a divorce.
TMZ has learned that Fink cited irreconcilable differences as the main reason why she filed for divorce.
Additionally, the notorious gossip site claims that millions of cash are on the line for this breakup since they didn't have a prenup and Patrick is worth around $40 million.
"It remains to be seen whether it will be amicable," a source said, adding that Fink has a problem with her hubby's ego for a long time now and that "she's all about the kids."
"It is with careful consideration and mutual respect that we have decided to end out marriage," their exclusive statement to People read.
In the same statement they also admitted that their main focus now is on their kids. "Our primary concern remains the wellbeing of our children, and we ask with profound gratitude that you respect our family's privacy at this time."
