Kanye West and Washington D.C. rapper Wale are probably going to collar, but not in the music scene. The two rappers are reportedly in talks to design NBA uniforms for Washington Wizards.
According to Fashion & Style, Wale was already named creative liaison for the team back in October. And from the time the cat is out of the bag, he has been pretty mum about his responsibilities.
However, he shared at the time that he was very elated with his new job since he has always been a fan of the team.
"I'm excited to start building as the creative liaison for the Washington Wizards," Wale said at the time. "As a D.C. native and lifelong Wizards fan, this is truly an exciting and organic relationship for me. We've got some exciting projects up our sleeve that will roll out throughout the season." a
Recently, Wale confirmed that as part of his role, he is the one tasked to design the new uniform for the Wizards.
And what better way to realize his task than to tap Kim Kardashian's husband Kanye West to help him out in designing the sportswear.
"My job is to provide a spark, at all costs," Wale said. "I'm not going to do anything corny, but I'm talking to Kanye about designing new uniforms. I want to see the phone booth rocking every time I come here," Wale discussed to ESPN in a recent interview.
"I want to create the 'Lake Show,' create what the Bulls had. I want to take the personality of our stars - John [Wall], Otto [Porter, Jr.], Marcin [Gortat] - and create what [Shawn] Kemp and [Gary] Payton had, what LeBron [James] and D-Wade [Dwayne Wade] had. That's the vibe I want," Wale added.
He then gushed about his primary goal in making the new set of uniforms.
"Look, I can remember that fuzzy reception on Fox 45 watching Calbert Cheaney and Chris Whitney and those teams lose to the Phoenix Suns by 15, 20," he said. "But now? Now we have a team to be proud of. And even if you're coming to a game for the wrong reasons, like trying to win a pair of shoes or something, I want you into it. We want to sell this place out."
