Russian Ship In Cuba - The arrival of a certain spy ship from Russia at the Havana port in Cuba has raised eyebrows. For one, its arrival comes at such a good time given US-Cuba talks are set to begin in the evening. What led Russia to send out one of its spy ships to Cuba?
The Russian ship in Cuba is a Viktor Leonov CCB-175. It is one of Russia's premier ships given with its features of a high-tech software, anti-aircraft guns, a radar, plus a 30-millimeter canon. The said ship arrived at Havana port Tuesday, which replaced a cruise ship that was docked in the area a day before.
Of course, the Russian ship in Cuba has been met with intrigue. While the radars in the ship appear not be in use, it still prompts residents in the area if the crew on board the ship are planning on spying on the US-Cuba talks. However, US authorities from the Pentagon claim that they have tracked the Russian spy ship and that there is nothing to worry about its sudden visit in Cuba.
"It's not unprecedented. It's not unusual. It's not alarming," says a defence official in a report by Daily Mail.
In fact, the Russian ship in Cuba is a normal feat for Cubans. According to Raphael Hernandez, Cubans have had a three-decade long dependence on Russians.
"We have normal relations with Russia," says Hernandez in a report by Yahoo. "One day, when we have normal relations with U.S., we could have an American ship visiting."
The Russian ship in Cuba is not something to be worried about as US officials have already stated that it is "not unusual" and "not alarming." There are no Cold War games played between Russia, Cuba, and the United States.
