Vince Camuto dies at the age of 78. The internationally renowned accessories and shoe designer has passed away after battling cancer for a long time.
As reported by WWD.com, Vince Camuto dies inside his house in Greenwich, Connecticut on Wednesday. He was surrounded by his beautiful wife, Louise, and their five children.
His wife works as the Creative Director of Camuto's eponymous label, which he founded back in 2005. She was the one who broke the devastating news about the fashion veteran to the company's employees, all 1,300 of them, in an email just last night. Her email honored her late husband's amazingly wonderful spirit and also praised his extraordinary work ethic.
The widowed Mrs. Camuto made a promise, which was to make sure that his legacy, as well as his work in the fashion industry, will live on for many years to come.
When it comes to highly fashionable shoes and accessories, Camuto was among those who are at the top of the list. He had co-founded the globally popular shoe brand Nine West back in 1978, before opting to start his own fashion house, The Camuto Group, in 2001. Four years after that, he came up with yet another world renowned label, Vince Camuto.
He also had a hand in the launching of Jessica Simpson's multi-million dollar brand in 2005. He even helped her out in the business by serving as her mentor all throughout the last ten years and has been assisting her a lot in achieving her own phenomenal success in fashion.
The 34-year-old Simpson posted a heartbreaking message to her long-time business partner and friend on social media last night. Shortly after she found that Vince Camuto dies, she took to Instagram to honor her late pal.
She posted a picture of herself with Camuto and his wife, along with an inspirational quote from the designer that said, "'It is never about one person. It's the teams you put in place. Without the right people, you're nowhere.' - Vince Camuto." She added a caption and wrote, "Thank you, Vince, for the humble power that has taken me everywhere. You are my mentor, my family, the creator of all my dreams. I will forever walk in your shoes. You made them. #brokenheart."
