Jay Leno has recently spoken up in support of the women who have come forward with their claims that Bill Cosby sexually assaulted them. He gave the press his two cents regarding the issue when he was asked at a National Association of Television Program Executives conference.
"I don't know why it's so hard to believe women," said the former late night talk show host of NBC. "I mean, you go to Saudi Arabia and you need two women to testify against a man. Here, you need 25."
In just a span of three months, more than a dozen women have broken their silence alleging that the internationally famous comedian had abused them sexually. Majority of the allegations are already over ten years old and have fallen outside the statute of limitations for criminal or civil cases.
Cosby's highly skilled lawyer, Marty Singer, has only dismissed all of the claims as "defamatory" and "discredited."
Leno, who had only stepped down as the host of "The Tonight Show" last year, continued to say that the allegations of all of the women against Cosby only got attention when a standup comedian, Hannibal Buress, referred to the funny man as a rapist during a comedy show last October.
"He made a flat-out statement that reverberated around the world," Leno said. "If that was on TV, it would have been edited. If it were on any other medium, it would have been edited. But, because somebody just filmed it and put it out there, you're getting your news raw and unfiltered, which, I think, is fantastic."
He was also asked about what he thought of Larry Wilmore's new show, "The Nightly Show," which discussed Bill Cosby's allegations on Tuesday. According to him, the show was "terrific" and that it brought on a "different perspective" that late night TV lacks.
Wilmore kicked the show off by informing his audience that the only topic they would be talking about was Cosby. "Tonight, we are talking about Cosby," he said. "We're answering the question, did he do it? The answer will be, 'Yes.' I'm telling you, the motherf***er did it."
