Why ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Director Didn’t Include Notorious Tampon Scene: ‘There Was Way Too Much Sex’

"Fifty Shades of Grey" fans, who are hoping that the movie adaptation will stay true to the book, may be disappointed to hear what film director Sam Taylor-Johnson revealed this week.

The English filmmaker had the luxury of time to speak with Variety this week and fortunately or unfortunately, she revealed something about the controversial scene that didn't make it to the movie.

According to MTV, one of the controversial scenes from the book where Christian Grey removed a tampon from Anastasia Steele's privates and insert his manhood instead will not be seen in the film.

"It didn't make it into the movie," Taylor-Johnson said. "It was never even discussed."

While this may be a big disappointment for fans who wished to see how the actors would act the scene out, Entertainment Weekly has learned that the primary reason why the notorious scene didn't make it to the final cut was because there was already too much sex going on to begin with.

"On the early draft, there was a sense there was way too much sex," the "Fifty Shades" director quipped. "The story, of course, is of equal importance. We tried to balance the narrative correctly, so one doesn't feel like it's drowning the other."

Despite the fact that the controversial scene will not be featured in the first instalment of the trilogy, author E.L. James assured obsessed fans that the translation from the book to the big-screen will be pretty satisfying.

"I'm pretty sure the millions of fans who have the read the trilogy will think there is enough sex," James said.

Meanwhile, just this Wednesday, The Weeknd debuted his contribution to the "Fifty Shades" soundtrack.

He dropped the official music video for "Earned It" and it pretty much embodies the theme of the movie. Even lead actress Dakota Johnson took part in the music video that was reportedly helmed by Taylor-Johnson as well.

"Fifty Shades of Grey" is set to hit theaters worldwide on Feb. 13.
