Red Velvet Oreos? For real? The answer is yes. Unfortunately, this goodies will only be available for a certain period of time.
According to Time, the Red Velvet Oreo cookies is Oreo's limited-edition offering for this year's Valentine's month.
So for the entire month of February, loyal costumers will be treated to a special date with the all-new flavor of the well-loved Oreo cookies.
To mimic the red velvet cake, the wafers of these limited-edition cookies have been dyed pink. Not only that, the center filling was also altered to mimic the cream cheese-flavoured filling of the original cakes.
The Red Velvet Oreos will hit stores starting Feb. 2 and they will only be available for selling for 6-8 weeks, or until the limited stocks run out.
Each pack is priced at $4.49 and they are expected to do well in the market in time for Valentine's Day.
Interestingly, New York Daily News has learned that ahead of its market debut 20,000 lucky fans will get to taste the new Oreo goodies earlier just by entering their promo online at oreoredvelvetrope.com between Jan. 20 and Jan. 22 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
Meanwhile, several media outlets already received their samples of these Red Velvet Oreos and many were actually impressed with the new flavour.
"Wow those were outstanding," said one taster. "The flavor is great, the cream cheese isn't overwhelming and the red coloring is subtle. It doesn't burn your eyes like most red velvet."
This isn't the first time red velvet got incorporated into a commercialised treat. Red velvet Peeps, candles, vodka, coffee and even M&Ms have long flooded the markets with their red velvety taste.
Per Chicago Tribune's report, the company worked on the new cookies for nearly 12 months before they perfected the new flavoured ones that will surely be a big hit this Valentine's month.
