Cheese Ban For A Day By Seattle Suburb, To Support Seahawks' Before Clash With Packers

A cheese ban was announced Friday in a city in Washington, in advance of Sunday's clash between the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks, since cheese wasWisconsin's favorite product.

The cheese ban was to be held for a day from City Hall to support the Seahawks, according to Yahoo! Sports.

The city manager of Bainbridge Island, just west of Seattle, issued the executive order on the cheese ban, which withholds the possession and consumption of cheese in City Hall.

According to CNN.com, the cheese ban is in part because "fans of the Green Bay Packers are frequently seen wearing obnoxious wedge-shaped foam hats painted yellow."

Douglas Schulze, Bainbridge Island's city manager, said in his executive order on the cheese ban:

"On Sunday, January 18, 2015, the Seattle Seahawks opponent in the NFC Championship game will be the Green Bay Packers, aka "Cheeseheads," according to the cheese ban order. "Fans of the Green Bay Packers are frequently seen wearing obnoxious wedge-shaped foam hats painted yellow."

The cheese banwas "due to this relationship" between Packers fans and cheese that the ban was enacted. Due to the relationship between the Green Bay Packers, their fans, and cheese, the possession of and/or consumption of cheese or cheese flavored products shall be banned in Bainbridge Island City Hall on Friday, January 16, 2015."

To be fair, the cheese ban only lasted one day, Friday and applied only to city hall employees. However, it seems that Schulze hopes the city's residents would follow through with the cheese ban.

Of course, Packers fans heard about the cheese ban, and of course, they were enraged and have retaliated.

While some fans called for a boycott of Seattle-based Starbucks, according to The Oregonian, some suggested not drinking coffee at all, or more specifically, any Seattle-brand coffee, reports NFL.com.

One Milwaukee radio station will be getting back at the cheese ban in its own way. WLWK-FM will reportedly "Say No To Seattle" prior Sunday. The station will not be playing any song by Seattle bands, such as Pearl Jam or Nirvana.
