The boy is currently in the hospital and is listed in critical condition. As a result of the Anthony Gulledge cheesecake beating, the 30-year-old was charged with neglect, aggravated child abuse, and domestic assault. Meanwhile, the boy's mother, Katrina Johnson, was also charged with aggravated child abuse for not exerting enough effort to stop the Anthony Gulledge cheesecake beating. She also did not seek medical attention for her son immediately. She only did so until the next day, according to WREG-TV.
According to Johnson, when Gulledge came home Saturday and got enraged upon learning that her son had taken the last piece of cheesecake. She added that he went to her son's bedroom, dragged him out of the room by his ankles and whipped him. He left the boy and then, but moments later, he returned to hit the 3-year-old again, WREG-TV reported.
After the Anthony Gulledge cheesecake beating, the boy was reportedly taken to a Germantown, Tennessee, hospital. However, he was later transferred to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis.
A police affidavit says that the young boy is currently being treated for a broken femur bone, dislocated vertebrae in his back, and bruised lungs, among other injuries, according to WMC Action News 5.
On Monday, he had been listed in critical condition, reports Newsmax.
Apparently, the Anthony Gulledge cheesecake beating was not the only occasion that the man attacked the little boy. There are also two other incidents where Gulledge beat the child, claimed Johnson.
AGulledge had reportedly been arrested twice before already on charges of beating Johnson. Gulledge and Gulledge have been dating for 10 years.
In addition to the arrest for the Anthony Gulledge cheesecake beating, last June, he was also arrested for allegedly choking and beating Johnson while she had been six months pregnant. In October Gulledge was also picked up for beating her, according to an affidavit obtained by The Appeal.
The Anthony Gulledge cheesecake beating was denied by the 30-year-old. However, he remains in Shelby County Jail on $210,000 bond, according to the New York Daily News.
