LeBron James Buckeyes: Cleveland Cavaliers Star Donates Beats By Dre Headphones To Ohio State; Was There A Violation?

LeBron James, a Buckeyes fan, has made sure that the players of Ohio State will be getting their own pair of Beats by Dre headphones at the national championship game. The star of the Cleveland Cavaliers helped each of the athletes, who will be playing against Oregon on Monday night, get their own trendy headphones.

Although many were quick to blast the basketball athlete for violating the rules, officials of Ohio State say that what LeBron James Buckeyes did was actually not a violation of improper benefits to athletes. According to them, the value of the headphones will be subtracted from the total allowed gift allowance that is provided for the players in the game.

Jerry Emig, the spokesperson for Ohio State, said, "LeBron helped facilitate the connection with Beats by Dre. The headphones were donated to Ohio State and I'm told also to Oregon as well, and were distributed within permissible NCAA limitations on awards."

True enough, the Oregon team also got their fair share of Beats headphones, as confirmed by the Twitter post of Haniteli Louisi.

James, who is one of the athletes who represent the internationally famous contraption, is actually an Akron native. He has repeatedly stated that if had not jumped directly from St. Vincent-St. Mary High School to the NBA, then he would be playing for Ohio State right now.

He has almost always been in attendance whenever the Buckeyes have a basketball or football game. He even has his own stall in the dressing room in the new men's basketball practice facility adjoining Ohio State Value City Arena.

Urban Meyers, the coach of Ohio State, took to Twitter on Saturday to thank LeBron James Buckeyes for exerting effort to help the entire team acquire their very own Beats headphones. He wrote, "Special thanks to @KingJames @beatsbydre for their support to the Buckeyes!"
