Interstate 94 Pileup - After the deadly pileup involving more than 100 cars in the Interstate 94 at Michigan, all lanes have now reopened. The lanes have reopened on Sunday, which was two days after the pileup that claimed one life while leaving more than a dozen injured.
Late Friday morning, reports of Interstate 94 pileup filled the web. Approximately, 193 vehicles were involved in the pileup. One fatality was reported while 23 people were left severely injured. Drivers blame it on the extreme weather condition that led to the deadly pileup.
"Snow, wind and poor visibility were blamed for the chain reaction of crashes on both sides of Interstate 94," states the report by AccuWeather.com with one of their expert meteorologists, Alex Sosnowski adding, "There were heavy lake-effect snow squalls in the area Friday morning and midday, originating from off of Lake Michigan. The nature of these squalls would be to quickly coat roads and bring a sudden reduction in visibility."
After the Interstate 94 pileup that led to 193 vehicle clean up, all lanes have now been reopened. Officials of the state transportation have reopened eastbound lanes ate around 4:30 a.m. right after the westbound lanes were opened.
It took two days to clean up the mess from the Interstate 94 pileup as road crew members had difficulty removing acid left from the tanker truck involved. Towing the vehicles was inexplicably "brutal" given the weather conditions the crew had to work in. Most of the vehicles towed were brought to McDonald's Towing & Rescue Inc.
Following the Interstate 94 pileup, officials are set to hold a meeting. Such meeting will work on a coordinated response involving private, state, and local groups. As for one of the individuals who managed to drive away from the pileup last Friday, Ryan Bovee calls the incident "unreal."
