"Chandelier" Video Dancer - There's much to be said about Sia's mini-me dancer, Maddie Ziegler. The 12-year old might have earned worldwide fame after starring in Sia's "Chandelier" video but she's gaining quite the flak for her latest stint in "Elastic Heart." Who exactly is Ziegler?
The "Chandelier" video dancer, Ziegler, first broke into the scene thanks to the show, "Dance Moms." Since 2011, Maggie at the age of eight was the star of the show. "Dance Moms" follows a group of talented young dancers who enter competitions across the United States.
Maggie has been featured in more than a 100 episodes for the show along with her mother, Melissa Ziegler-Giso and her sister, Mackenzie Ziegler. Before being Sia's "Chandelier" video dancer, Maggie had been trained by "Dancing with the Stars" guest judge, Abby Lee Miller.
Surprisingly, the "Chandelier" video dancer didn't exactly know who Sia was before she was handed the job of appearing in the music video. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Maggie says it was Sia who reached out to her via Twitter.
"I met Sia last year. She tweeted me, and she was like, "I'm a big fan of the show, and I would like you to be in the video for my new song, 'Chandelier.'" I didn't even see [the tweet]-it was my mom or someone on my team that saw it, and I was like, "This isn't even real. Someone's trying to prank me." So then everyone started to look into it, and believe it or not, I actually flew to L.A., like, two weeks later. It was real," shares Maggie.
Now, it seems the "Chandelier" video dancer is facing a bit of a controversy following the release of "Elastic Heart's" music video. A number of people have claimed it showed of a "paedophilic vibe." For others, the video has been nothing but artistic.
