Andi Dorfman Josh Murray split surprised the public after it was announced Thursday, Jan. 8. "Bachelorette" star Andi Dorfman, 28, and Josh Murray, 30, appeared on the show's tenth season.
"After several months of being engaged and working on our relationship, we have decided that it's best for both of us to go our separate ways," reads a mutual statement from the couple explaining the shocking Andi Dorfman Josh Murray split. "We are very sad that it has come to this point, but this is what's best for both of us individually. We will continue to be good friends and have nothing but great things to say about each other and wish each other the best."
Among those surprised to hear about the "Bachelorette" couple's calling off their engagement is new "Bachelor" star Chris Soules. Sources close to Soules says the hunky star was shocked about the news of the Andi Dorfman Josh Murray split, reports E! Online.
"Chris did actually think they were gonna last," said Soules' friend.
Soules also thought of Josh as a great guy, said the friend.
What made the Andi Dorfman Josh Murray split was that it came after a whirlwind, and very public, courtship.
On Tuesday, Chris spoke with ET after the farmer told that he did indeed "find love!"
Aside from Soules, another one caught off guard by the Andi Dorfman Josh Murray split is Dorfman's Bachelorette runner-up Nick Viall.
"I was surprised. I feel for them. Heartbreak is tough for anyone, whether you're engaged or not. It stinks," she told E! News.
Lauren Goodhart Murray, the former baseball player's mother, also gave her two cents regarding the Andi Dorfman Josh Murray split via Facebook on Friday, Jan. 9, according to Us Magazine.
"Yes it's true, Andi & Josh have chosen to break off their engagement. Although there was no one thing that precipitated their decision, they were thoughtful & wise in their decision and I'm happy they figured this out before getting married & having kids," Goodhart Murray said on her official Facebook page.
"The engagement time did it's job in helping them determine what's best for them," she added. "I know we all wanted the storybook ending but I trust The Lord has an even better journey for each of them and that makes my heart happy. Thank you for your love and messages. I'm overwhelmed & humbled by your words. XO."
The timing of the Andi Dorfman Josh Murray split is especially surprising given because they were spotted together at "The Bachelor" Season 19 Premiere in Los Angeles Monday, Jan. 5. They reportedly attended the event in support of the newest Soules, a fan favorite before Andi eliminated him.
Both Dorfman and Murray hail from Atlanta. They also spent New Year's Eve happy together, showing no signs of a possible breakup, according to ET Online.
"The night has begun! @joshmurray11 #NYE2015," she posted on Instagram the previous week.
The couple got engaged on the season finale of the hit ABC show in July.
During the couple's time together, Dorfman even threw Murray a surprise 30th birthday party, as well as making several red carpet appearances.
Also, days before the Andi Dorfman Josh Murray split news went public, they were seen during a live TV appearance on ABC.
"We're looking forward to just settling down and relaxing and just having fun with each other," Murray said Monday.
"Once you start [wedding] planning, there's no stopping. I have to be ready to plan and he has to be ready to taste the food and drink the wine," Dorfman also said.
The only sign of the Andi Dorfman Josh Murray split was when Andi, an assistant District Attorney, mentioned something about taking a "break" from wedding planning.
"I think now that all of this is starting again, it's time to take a little break and make a little home in Atlanta and figure it out there," she told People. "I would definitely have some of the girls from my season in my wedding, at my wedding. There's definitely some girls that I've kept in good contact with -- they're some of my best friends."
