"Covert Affairs" got cancelled this week, and there's no denying that loyal fans of the show were left with questions on what could have happened to their favourite characters.
According to Cinema Blend, the Piper Perabo-starrer series was cancelled this week after its latest season failed to gather strong ratings.
Though the show started out with a lot of potential - raking in a total of 4.88 million of viewers during its freshman run - things didn't look particularly well when the "Covert Affairs" wrapped up its fifth season in the middle of December.
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the recently concluded season only had 1.1 million viewers and that's just pretty low for the network to spend more for another run.
Hence, USA decided to officially cancel the series though it didn't end nicely in its fifth run. For one thing, the season wrapped up with a cliffhanger.
On Twitter, Perabo thanked her fans for the support for the past five seasons, Inquisitr reports.
"Thanks for all love for .@CovertAffairs I will miss it but am so happy to have made so many great friends through it. Love you guys, xp," she wrote.
While show fans may be left wanting for more of Annie Walker's story, USA is moving on with new projects that will hopefully satisfy viewers with intense action.
Just three weeks ago, USA has already signed on 'Mr. Robot" and has also teased on two new dramas "Dig" and "Complications."
Then, there is also "Stanistan" starring Jennifer Carpenter and "Colony" starring Josh Holloway. Finally, USA will also bring in "Queen of the South" and "Evil Men" to its lineup of shows.
Meanwhile, apart from "Covert Affairs," USA has also cancelled "White Collar" and "Rush," but renewed "Suits," "Christly Knows Best," "Playing House," "Royal Pains," "Satisfaction" and "Graceland."
