Kornegay sisters kill brother while their parents were out of town. According to the authorities in White Springs, Florida, 15-year-old Misty Renee shot down 16-year-old Damien while he was fitfully sleeping.
Nicole Kornegay, 11 years old, was also charged with murder, as she is believed to have "assisted in the shooting" of her brother.
The parents of the Kornegay sisters kill brother, Keith, 37 years old, and Misty, 33 years old, were both out of town. According to multiple online reports, the patriarch of the family was busy with his job as a truck driver, while Misty was merely riding along with him.
When Misty Renee was interviewed by the local police, she said that her brother beat her most of the time, sometimes even locking her inside a certain bedroom. So, when her brother finally slept, Nicole unlocked the door and let her older sister out of the room so she could carry on with her vengeance.
Misty Renee even broke into the locked bedroom of their parents, found the hidden nine millimeter hand gun and shot down her brother. After Kornegay sisters kill brother, they headed off to a local Dollar General store to call a friend.
She informed her buddy that she had decided to run away from home and that she needed a ride to get to her destination. The mother of their friend was the one who helped them and picked them up. However, she started to become concerned when Misty Renee mentioned that their brother may be hurt.
It was the mother of their friend who contacted the local authorities to request for a welfare check at the home of the Kornegays. Sadly, when the deputies of Columbia County arrived on the Kornegay property, Damien was already dead on the living room floor.
Kornegay sisters kill brother were both arrested and charged with premeditated murder. Since they are both minors, they will remain in custody at a juvenile detention facility. However, State Attorney Jeff Siegmeister stated that he "may be forced" to charge the girls as adults for the manner that they killed their brother.
