Following in the footsteps of its predecessors, "The Hobbit" box office success continues with its third film. Not including the first three films based on the books of J.R.R. Tolkien. "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" reelied in $31.9 million, "The Desolation of Smaug" garnered $29 million.
Such amount is of course chick feed to "The Hobbit" box office film number three. The "Battle of Five Armies" garnered $21.9 million only on its third weekend. Other films that desperately made an attempt to kick out five armies from the top spot include "Into the Woods" and "Unbroken."
