Serena Williams' rumored romance with her coach Patrick Mouratoglou fizzled down a bit last year following reports that the couple decided to stop dating each other and focus more on their professional relationship.
The Williams-Mouratoglou rumor mill had been dormant for several months until a latest picture taken at the airport sparks more curiosity about the current relationship status of the two.
Daily Mail Australian correspondent Danielle Gusmaroli reported that Williams and Mouratoglou arrived together at Perth Airport on Sunday. Gusmaroli stated the couple was a bit cozy with each other, as they took a series of selfies on Williams' phone.
"She has a reputation the world over as a fearsome competitor who hates to lose. But as World No.1 Serena Williams landed at Perth airport on Saturday, all that appeared to occupy her mind was the angle that showed off her best side as she posed for snaps with beau Patrick Mouratoglou," according to Gusmaroli.
Although Williams hasn't posted the photo on her Instagram account, the picture snapped by Splash News (via the Daily Mail) was more than enough to get the rumor mill rolling.
Most tennis fans on social networking sites, especially avid Williams and Mouratoglou followers, believe the two is an item again after going through a rocky phase last year.
Mouratoglou, who coached several big names in tennis, has been romantically linked to Williams right away since the two forged their 'working' relationship roughly three years ago. Over the course of their partnership, Williams won five Grand Slam championships and regained her status as the no.1 tennis player in the world after dealing through injuries and inconsistencies the previous years.
Then again, Williams' romance with her coach reportedly hit rock enough, and its effect was evident in her play through the first seven months of the 2014 season. Serena then distanced herself from Mouratoglou by clarifying on Twitter that she is single.
"To answer all your questions I'm single and I have been single so the speculations can stop," Williams posted on her Twitter account.
Although Mouratoglou accompanied Williams in tournament, their romance evidently cooled off in the succeeding months until this 'selfie-gate' incident at Perth Airport.
The 33-year old Williams will kick off her 2015 campaign as a member of the US teams at the Hopman Cup in the New Zealand metropolis.
