Scotland Ebola Case - The first case of Ebola has been confirmed in Scotland. Glasgow hospital medical representatives have confirmed that one patient who had returned from West Africa to be Ebola-positive. Those in contact with the said patient are now being investigated.
The woman confirmed to be diagnosed with Ebola is currently in isolation at the Glasgow Gartnavel Hospital. She has yet to be identified. However, reports state that she was a healthcare worker at West Africa, one of the places in the world known to have the highest cases of Ebola infection. This counts as the first Scotland Ebola case.
With regards to the first Scotland Ebola case, UK health secretary Jeremy Hunt, states that the woman will be taken immediately to the Royal Free Hospital in London. The transfer will take place overnight via an air ambulance.
Hunt claims that the UK government is doing "everything it needs to be" for the country to be safe from Ebola. Following the first Scotland Ebola case, hunt adds that protocols with regards to Ebola screening have been reviewed.
"We are also reviewing our procedures and protocols for all the other NHS workers who are working at the moment in Sierra Leone," states Hunt in a report by BBC News.
The woman who is the first Scotland Ebola case was confirmed to be an NHS health worker at the Ebola Treatment Center located in Kerry Town. This is located in Sierra Leone, West Africa. Following the woman's diagnosis of Ebola, all possible contacts are now being investigated.
From the passengers on the flight to the hospital staff who had been in contact with the first Scotland Ebola case, all these are under investigation. As for the Scottish minister, Nicola Sturgeon, states that everything is under control as the country is "well-prepared" for the outbreak.
